Have you ever seen a movie that had a lot of wonderful ideas, and a compelling premise, but despite the best efforts of everyone involved, just did not manage to come together as well as anyone would have liked? Gemtopia game is kind of like that, being well thought out, and featuring decent production values, but overall feels a bit stiff, and like there is a certain something missing from it so that will keep you from having as good of a time as you potentially could have.

Still, there is a lot to like about this game for anyone, and reason enough to give it a try. It features some of the brightest jewels you will see on the market, a premise that is perfectly suited to playing an online casino game, some wonderful artwork, some beautiful gems, and lots to win in ample amounts! The many jackpots in particular are stand out features, and you frequently get awarded with a chance to give yourself another spin should you not win.

These things are enough to save the game in some ways, but for many, it will still feel a bit odd and underwhelming. If they had spent a little bit more time on the graphics, made things feel a little more lively, or any number of other things, this one clearly could have been a gem in the genre, no pun intended! As things stand, however, it is merely a decent game with some good ideas that could have been a lot better than it is, and will fill your interest for just long enough to keep you there before moving on.

What is This Slot About?

This game is about gems, jewels, expensive things, and assorted objects that go for an ironically high price considering they are all basically crystallized dirt! This would normally make for a very compelling premise, and it is certainly well chosen for the type of game they were making. The way it comes together, however, everything all kind of looks the same after the while, and it is hard to be very excited by anything that spins by. Sure, the colors of all these different items are different, and some of them are genuinely unique, but the grand majority of them are all just vaguely shiny stones, and lose their luster after a while.

How Does the Game Actually Play?

The gameplay thankfully is a lot looser than the graphics, thanks in no small part to what real time gaming is known for. You will see the usual main stays of their work here, such as the now standard five reel's, and here featuring only 20 pay lines. There are also many free spins features that come up, and some other goodies in stored for you in terms of bonus features that we will leave to you to unlock! They are less fun if you spoil them, but at the end of the day, they all will result in you either getting a free spin, or some money. We enjoyed both! As we are sure you do as well.

You can match all kinds of different things here, but we have to admit, they all look somewhat similar. There is a red ruby, some green emerald, smaller versions of those emeralds, some kind of yellow topaz thing, a purple version of the jewels, some kind of orange thing, some smaller topaz's, a neat looking Faberge egg sort of thing, and a diamond that denotes the free games. As you can tell, most of the things here are pretty much the same, only different in color just so slightly. If a little more effort had been put into differentiating the jewels, things would have been more interesting. As they stand, however, you will mostly recognize the different things by their color, and assume they are all basically the same.

How's it Look?

This is where of the game tends to fall apart just a bit. We understand it is a game about gems, but most of the gems that they have here all basically look the same. Granted, maybe many gems in real life actually do look the same, but we are willing to bet that the developers could have found a little more variety of what they could use here, instead of what they ended up with. The end result of what you will see here are all basically the same kind of gem with a marginally different colors. Maybe we just don't know enough about gems to know the difference, but that's how we felt about it after spending a good amount of time with it. It's very colorful, we will say that, and everything is well drawn.

Who is the Ideal Audience of this Particular Slot?

If you love shiny objects and live for all things related to jewelry, then you might find something here that peaks your interest. Anyone else that is interested in money will also of course find a good time here. If you are looking for something more, however, or a little more variety in what you will see, this game may leave you a bit sparse on having your expectations filled.

Summing it All Up - Should You Play This Fine Game?

Summing it up, Gemtopia Slots is one of the only games about gems themselves in the slot world, although that is not a very large selling point! This is a game that tries very hard and succeeds on the gameplay, but leaves you feeling a bit unsatisfied about everything else. This is largely due to how much of the game actually looks somewhat interchangeable with the rest of it, leaving everything feeling largely uncompelling to match. Give it a try if you made it this far, however! It's not like you have much to lose. As little as a penny will get you started.
