Fairy Tale

This is a game that oh so badly wants to be Pinocchio, but chooses instead to walk off the beaten path trying to be different. It is still basically Pinocchio, however, which is probably for the best. Specifically, it draws on the Disney version of the tale, all the way down to the whale they get stuck in, and everything else. We will not fault them for this, however, because that was a great movie, and this is largely a great slot. Although the jackpot is the biggest feature, the entire game plays very well otherwise, and it looks pretty good too. We find this one easy to recommend, and suggest you go and try it right now rather than reading this review. It would be a lot quicker, far more profitable for you!

What is This Slot About?

Wooden Boy slot, much like the title would suggest, is about a boy that is a wooden puppet made real by the end of your play session. Or at least that is how we imagine it. Technically they do not address any of that in this slot itself. All you do get it, however, is the puppet himself, and the many adventurous characters he goes around with. It would be kind of sad if you think about it if you did not end up becoming a real boy at the end, but we preferred to sleep at night thinking that he did. You too can help him become a real boy by simply playing the slot! All the more reason to give it a try.

How Does the Game Actually Play?

The gameplay here does really well to make things feel alive, fitting perfectly well with the fairytale theme. There is a bonus feature called the free spins feature, which is admittedly not too innovative, but the rest of things go along at a decent enough pace that we will forgive them for it. The main draw here, like most games, is the progressive jackpot, which we found progressively bigger than most slots on the market. The reel size is only five, but the paylines go up to 20, making for some very sizable risks you can take between each spin. Individual coins are either one penny or go up to five dollars, making the total amount around $100 if you choose to put everything all in.

As far as what you'll be matching, there are whales, the wooden boy himself, fairies, books, and something that appears to be a fox. This is alongside the suits of cards you would come to expect, which do somewhat get in the way compared to the rest of the nicely done illustrations.

How's it Look?

Most of the game his hand drawn, and looks wonderful for that reason. The color scheme itself is a little bit like Christmas, which is fitting given the theme. Specifically we do not mean the wooden boy theme, but the theme of winning money to buy lavish things. For us, that sounds a lot like Christmas, and it is the best holiday. Most of the graphics here are composed of suits of cards, but they do have quite a bit of character compared to what you would expect. Other than that, the whale and his friends, as well as some books, are examples of elements of the game that are very well illustrated.

The background here in particular shows off the artistic flair. It is not quite Disney level artistry, but it is fairly decent. It is certainly better than most people can do, however, so we will give it a pass because we are being paid to play a slot game like this.

Who is the Ideal Audience of this Particular Slot?

If you grew up watching Disney movies, or were a fan of the book, then clearly this slot would be targeted at you. It is Pinocchio through and through, no matter what you call it. There are various copyright issues associated with using that specific term, however, so we understand why they avoided it. It is a game for people that love fairytales, have a good relationship with money, and are looking for a way to combine the two productively.

This game is also suitable for people that simply love Christmas, given the color scheme featured throughout being highly reminiscent of our favorite holiday.

Summing it All Up - Should You Play This Fine Game?

Summing it up, Wooden Boy Slots is a well drawn game that looks like Christmas and is themed after a famous tale. Unlike the puppet in the tale, however, you will be pulling the strings here, resulting in money falling out with every single span. If you love hand drawn illustrations, progressive jackpot, and are fond of the theme, then you will surely rank this slot highly among your favorites. For everyone else, it is still a fairly good time, and an easy game to recommend. We think you should give it a chance even if you are not a Pinocchio fan, because it really does have a lot of potential. There are not that many games with jackpots like this, nor as much care of that when into it.

It is certainly not the most innovative slot on the market, but as we always say, it will surely do. Go play it and be able to win enough money to cut your own strings, and be a real boy yourself. At least we hope that's what he intends to do, rather than just being a wooden boy forever, which would kind of suck if you think about it!
